Matt has a wide range of civil litigation experience, both commercial and tort. He has appeared before federal and state trial courts throughout Indiana and has argued before both the Indiana Supreme Court and the Indiana Court of Appeals. Matt has also resolved many cases through alternative dispute resolution and mediation. His goal is to provide his clients with efficient, practical, and effective counsel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His commercial litigation experience includes various breach of contract matters relating to business, construction, and real estate disputes, and landlord\/tenant law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Landlord\/tenant law is a particular area of focus for Matt. He represents both landlords and tenants in the work-out of commercial lease disputes, and he strives to salvage relationships when it best serves his clients\u2019 interests. When relationships cannot be salvaged, Matt serves as an advocate for his clients\u2019 rights through litigation or alternative dispute resolution. He has experience with the termination of tenant possessory rights and the enforcement of tenant obligations, but he also protects the legal rights of several commercial tenants. Matt also represents property owners who feel they may be paying too much in real estate taxes. Specifically, he has experience appealing the over-assessment of both commercial and residential real estate and the denial of statutory real estate exemptions. This work has placed Matt before both County Property Tax Boards of Appeals and the Indiana Board of Tax Review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Matt\u2019s tort litigation experience includes the defense of a broad array of product and premises liability cases. His products liability defense work has related to asbestos, manufacturing equipment, and various consumer goods, and his premises liability defense work has included slip\/trip-and-fall cases and alcohol consumption cases.
